Sick Present. Im moving out in two days, so this is superb timing. I'm running sick bad this month...but I do call too much and go to too many showdowns.
Its mainly fish that make me call light I have decided, or bad regs.
I had a hand against Nathy where he 3 bet the driest flop ever in a hand where 3 betting made no sense at all, especially with a strong hand. I failed to consider that as well as it being impossible for him to have a strong hand here, there wasn't a single draw. I shoved anyway and he snap called with top two.

For the last week I've tried struggling with the new Pacific software. It crashes every 2 minutes and is now at a point where I can no longer use it. I had a hand at 5/10 today where I basically turned the nuts against a huggggge fish. He lead into me just enough so that I could have shoved... and Pacific crashed. At this point I smashed up my room... and decided I wouldn't play one more hand at Pacific Poker while the software was the same.
I spent a good hour or so deciding where to move to. I discussed it with Hoooooof who gave me some ideas. I decided to try Ladbrokes having heard rumours of great software and soft games.
I can now happily declare that Ladbrokes is my new favourite company. The software is amazing and the games, as long as it wasn't a one off, are soffffft.
I played for about 3 hours this evening and I felt much more relaxed and clear minded. I didn't think software would make much of a difference to my game, but it does. I made 5 buyins which is a great start and I hope it continues this way.

Its Wednesday the 25th and Ive decided to retire for the month. I did decided this a few days ago...but played on, now however I actually have. The main reason for this is that June has been soooooo sick I don't want to ruin it. Also I head off to Ibiza on the 2nd of July and would hate a down swing just before I get on the plane.

Yea so as mentioned June is my best month ever and It has come a great time. Last month I made a loss of 10k! Which was hard to take and involved me moving down a few levels to get myself back on track. I made a fairly steady recovery this month and only really had two down swings...both on days I took shots at 5/10! For this reason Ive decided to stay at 2/4 and 3/6 untill my roll is a bit bigger. Also the games at those lower levels are so shockingly bad I think I would have a better hourly rate anyway.

Talking about bad players, Pacific has always been ridiculously soft, but lately the games at 2/4 and 3/6 are an absolute joke. Every other player is a 75/45 and I haven't seen an average table VPIP lower than 35 in a long time.

So here's my graph for June, I was aiming to play 60k hands this month in an effort to up my work ethic but this tapered out to 46k. It works out to 6 hours a day 5 days a week over 4 weeks and is more than I would usually play. The graph is missing about 3k hands and about 2.5k in profit.

May Summary and JUNE! gogogogo JUNE!

Yea so may was horrific, easily the least enjoyable, most stress full month of poker since I started back in August.
I managed to lose myself 22k within the first week of June which is a really bad way to start a poker month. This is bad for two reasons. The first, because your then trying to get even for the next 3 weeks...which can lead to tilt. The second, well...its 22 grand.
I spent a lot of time going over my HH on my own and with Hoooooof. We came to the conclusion that the majority of my loss' were huge coolers and suck outs at 10/20 and 5/10. Obv im not yet playing optimal poker ( only about 3 people in the world do) and so can always play better, but I believe that I am good enough to crush the games I play in and my large loss was mainly due to bad luck.

June so far has been sick, I made 15 buyins at 3/6 in the first day and have been pretty much break even for the last 3. We looked closely at my stats with month and have come to the conclusion that playing in the style I do is not optimal for the huge number of fish and looseness of the games I play in.
For example Hoooooof pointed out that my button steal success is very low which proclaims I need to make some changes for these games.
Im going to be trying out a few things in the next week to try and optimise my profits.
Hoooooof also came to the conclusion that as poker players, we are some of the laziest, playing 30k hands and less sometimes a month. We have decided that this month were going to put extra effort in and so I have played 11521 hands so far... he has played 23.5k!

I started taking shots at 5/10 this month. Everything started out hunky dory, I ran really good, cornered a lot of players and the money came rolling in, I wondered what all the fuss was about playing at this level!
This week however has been a completely different story, Its been really up and down, having some 8 buy in plus days and some 8 buy in down days and slightly more of the latter. I think im playing the best poker I can at the moment and feel confident, in the most part, that im not playing above my station. I have dropped a couple of buy ins to bad play and won a few due to it, but I feel im slowly worming out these leaks.
A few were making my game rather spewy but I think I have eradicated one of them and am working on the others.
I'm considering dropping down for a while if this week doesn't take a dramatic turn for the better as having large swings while being only just rolled could be effecting my play without me noticing.
I have found that not keeping track of my role really helps with the mental part of my game, but obviously I don't want to be playing under rolled and so am having to check quite frequently at the moment.
As far as other regs go, There is defiantly a few Tag's playing to a high standard that I have a lot of respect for at the moment. The games in general however aren't any tougher than 2/4 and 3/6 and at the right times there are quite a few fish. Not, however as many as at the lower levels.

Feb was probably my most stressful month as a poker player, I started the month with great expectations after a immense January. The weeks that followed however were far from immense, Until the 24th It was ridiculously swingy, I was having up to 10 buyin down and upswings constantly and it really started to get to me. I think it was momentarily effecting my game. The downswing's were mainly due to running particularly badly but obviously there are always better ways to play hands when you review them afterwards.

I sadly don't have a graph for this month as I stayed at Hoooooof's for 3 weeks and was mainly playing without a tracker or PA Hud. I could notice a difference in my game playing without it, I found myself having to concentrate 100% of the time on hands I wasn't evolved in, which was actually really beneficial to my game. It helped me build reads and tel's on players without relying on a programme.

I ended up making half what I did in the previous month, but as always running bad improves me as a player and I feel there was a moment of clarity this month when playing in 3 bet pots and generally playing at 400nl.

Finally......Hoooooof and I won an all expenses paid trip to Dubai!!!!! WWWWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Yea that's it really...February is shitty so far, One good thing happens when I run bad though...I learn new weakness and leaks in my game and I think I have found a few and am resolving them gradually.
On another note... Me and Hoooooof went up to Nottingham at the weekend to play some live cash at DuskTillDawn, a new poker club, apparently the biggest in Europe. It was pretty impressive, loads of tables with levels from £100nl ranging up to a £10-$10 Horse game, others were available a pon request. The best part about our weekend was all the fucked up stuff we saw ranging from...

A Spitting tramp woman who consistantly spat every 5 seconds as she walked past.
A real wolf on a rope near Lukes house (It wasnt a Husky it was a Wolf!
A Jew-Scope (No racist implications We had just never seen one before).
A Fat paper hoarding tramp who actually requested and took a paper from a woman on the train who was still reading it).
A Sleezeball receptionist at our hotel (she was either a serial killer, or wanting a 3 way, or was generally just a sleezy bitch).

So after a terrible last week or so at Pacific and trouble with Ladbrokes tables Ive decided to take a shot at Party!! I know the games could be a lot tougher but with the help of Spadeye!! I intend to hunt down those fish.
Spadeeye, is however the most annoying program ive ever had to set up in my life, and I didnt even do most of the setting up, Hoooooof did! Now its all sorted however Ive started data mining and using the scanner and its really quite handy. I dont have enough hands on anyone yet to find the fish but In a couple of days ill have a sick Party database of fish.
My first shot at party was without stats and it went really well, I made about 3buyins in a couple of hours. Today I played again and lost the three buyins I made yesterday, There was only one buyin size pot but I lost a lot of medium and small size pots.
After going through my hands today I have come to the conclusion that there are loads of holes in my game and its actually quite annoying. Hoooooof has however given me some more insight into postflop 3-bet pot play and I think it will improve from now on. Also I seem to have turned into a bit of a river fish and am going to a lot of showdowns recently, Im going to focus a lot more on what I look people up with as I obviously not giving people enough credit.
On a positive note, I love how my party looks now after its been given a new lease of life with skins and cards and stuff, check it out bouy!!:

January...my first month at mid stakes, Started amazingly. I made $11,000 in the first 11 days, sick! couldn't ask for more! Then my sick run came to an end and It started to hit home that I was now playing mid stakes. When I say playing at mid stakes I'm referring to playing with a lot more tags! The games don't seem to be that much tougher though and there are only a few tags that actually cause me any grief. I thought I would be getting pushed about a lot more than I am, but I seem to be doing a lot of the pushing around myself, whether im doing it in the right spot or not is something I need to work on.
A lot of my focus this month has been on playing 3-bet pots post flop, the best lines, and attitudes to take with individual styles of player. As well as this Hoooooof has been talking to me about balancing my lines and focusing on RANGES, also balancing the bluffs and nuts I have in different positions and making my plays less readable to villains.
I feel if I had a big enough roll for 5/10 now, It wouldn't be a good idea to move up. I think I have a lot to learn before I play with any TAG's or LAG's at a higher level.

Ok, well let me start by talking about 400nl so far. I have defiantly noticed a difference in the play, a lot more aggression, a lot more double barrels, a lot more moves. I feel I have adapted quite well, I've defiantly been more aggressive and there has been a large increase in move making and so on, I wont go into details just in case there are any sneaky Pacific TAG's out there reading up on me!!!

I have to say im enjoying the game more now than 4 weeks ago, there is more to think about and its less standard boring ABC poker. I also feel my reads are getting better and better which is not only improving my game but also improving the experience.

The last week or so however has been a chore and the bain of my life! I had been break even for quite a few thousand hands and my graph started to look like the shape of the scare I would make on Jeremy Kyles face if I ever saw him. Today however was siiiiiiick.

Just a little update, 400nl was going amazingly, however I played 500 hands today In tired/shit/corpse mode and dropped 3 and a half buyins. Anyway just want to show you my graph for 400nl so far and just one hand that I found interesting today.

Villian is a 34/22 AF: 2, and only cold calls 2% of hands pre flop, now His cold calling range here I thought at the time was AQ,1010,99,88.
So on the this flop I thought to myself, ok the only hand I beat and can get value from is JJ. 1010 is beating me, 99 is beating, 88 is beating me and AQ folds.

So I decided to check and let him maybe make a bluff or bet his nuts and keep pot small. Turn comes and he bets 44, river comes and he shoves. I call both.

I think however I should have folded turn once I decided to check/call flop and go with the range I have given him.

Dramatically Bad session... into a not so bad session!

I played for the first time after my biggest session ever yesterday, and as I had imagined...It started terribly, I think I lost 7 buyins in about two hours! I feel this big down swing was mainly due to terrible set ups, however there were a couple of stacks lost due to bad final decisions.
The session ended fine though as I managed to make back 5 buy Ins, which meant I could go to bed...at 5am! a happy man! Below is a graph of the session:

I hate the way I played this hand at all stages really, OAL055 is a 18/12 and so isn't fucking about here pre flop, from the small blind, after a raiser and a cold caller, Which is why I didn't think a raise was any good, I did however feel I couldn't fold as im getting 3/1 and I have QQ!
On the flop I didn't see any value in raising so I called. On the turn I feel I make a very bad call, although the pot is huge I don't beat any of his range now the Jack has arrived. As for playing the hand differently, I don't really know, fold pre flop? get it in pre flop?

This next hand was pretty cool to! To anyone reading this now without an explanation would question my calls, but I know this bloke off by heart, He is a 71/35 for a start, but thats not the best thing, he will bet into the raiser on the flop if he hits, anything, or has a strong pare, He will check with nothing every time. He is happy to make ridiculous bluffs on turn and river, if you also under rep your hand on the flop.

When he checked I new he didn't have a King, I could have bet this flop and been called by him with AQ ,AJ, A10, he is that bad! but having my reads on him I decided there was more value checking. Then it all came together, he bet the turn and I called as I new it was a bluff. The river bet was scary but decided I wanted to go with my read as it was so strong. A raise was obviously worthless as although he is bad he doesn't call with his bluffs!!

Yea so today I had my biggest earning day so far, and I think probably one of the best playing days so far also. I just felt on top of it today, Made a few nice calls, managed to take some money off a few of the regular TAG's which is always nice!

I was playing 23/17 which is slightly looser than my average and I was playing very loose out the cut-off, It was actually just looser than the button! 31! I have been trying to play looser out the cut off lately as my range was a bit tight, I think today was a combination of my trying to play more hands and actually having more playable hands! First Lesson with Teamviewer 3

I had my first lesson using TeamViewer 3 yesterday, I think it went really well. Hooooof said he could see my screen at the same resolution I see it.

I played for two hours mainly on my own with Luke watching me, looking for mistakes, better lines and where I was going wrong. He also occasionally couldn't hold back and told me where I was going wrong as I played.

I have a...sort of diary...called 'The Gospal by Muan', Which is basically a note of all the comments and critiques Hooooof makes when we go through my hands from each session. Its a way of recording where I need to improve to hopefully help me develop into a better poker player. Anyway... I made notes on his summary after my TeamViewer session, they are as follows:

Try and bluff/win pots that no villains seem bothered about, if there is a lot of checking going on make a bluff and take down the pot. (The Turn is the best place).

When I have 0 showdown value it is more important to try and take down a pot when bluffing spots are available.

Raise a lot more when its BB vs SB, Any two cards!

Adjust ranges depending on villains, the tighter the blinds the more button raises. With a very aggressive player to your left play tighter from SB and cutoff and looser on button.

Play under the gun range in the small blind.

When someone donk bets into me, think about their range not my hand strength. AK could be good on 886, and are their small pairs and 6’s calling a bluff?

Ok, so...This is my first post on my brand new shiny blog! My very own blog... can you believe it!
I'm Joe, I'm 22 and I'm from England. Ive just recently finished my degree and because of this have been in a state of limbo for the past few months.

I started my new leash on life with a couple of Holidays, first...to Ayia Napa with my friends, Which I can say is great destination for all things fucked up and crazy in life, especially with a group of 10 fully grown men acting how 9 year old would with loads of money and alcohol.
The second departure was to Barcelona, This trip was slightly more civilised, I was with the family and so all aspects were a lot more...down to earth. I can say however that Barcelona is the best holiday destination I've ever been to and would recommend it to anyone wanting to get away.

On return to England I still couldn't bring myself to dive into working life, and so decided to take another break/holiday and stay with my friends in their uni house. This holiday initially planned on being two weeks. It turned into 3 months and I have only recently moved home at the start of December.
During my stay I made a big decision. With the help of my friend/coach/mentor/Minotaur/god Luke AKA Hooooof. It was to start taking my, already established, love for poker more seriously. This time living and learning with Luke inspired me to start playing regularly and I am now playing 6 hours a day, 5 days a week minimum.

I started with $600 back in September playing 25nl, In the pass 3 months I have managed to increase my bankroll enough to allow me to be playing 200nl.

December Has been my best month by far. I've made just over $5500, My second shot at 200nl went well enough for me to be playing here regularly. I haven't played nearly as many hands as I would have liked but its Christmas and all that so I've let myself off!
I had a down swing towards the end of the month, mainly due to running bad and then some tilt which I haven't overcome fully, I am however remarkably better with tilt than I was when I first starting playing regularly but I think I can still improve a lot.

There are a few hands I must share with you, This first one nearly made me cry, I cant actually believe I did it to this day. I shove this turn thinking it is just me and the short stack with 4 pittance dollars, How I missed the other Villain I don't know, The fact that he was the only one that covered me and happened to have flopped a set made me sick to my stomach when he snap called.
